Hi Tony ....

Cheers for the info.. and your right, Trinity and xfce are probably the best option.

I think I must just be turning into an old fart... Resisting change as much as possible, even though its inevitable :-)

You could try Trinity when Gnome 2 `runs out' or maybe xfce. With the
gtk-kde theme engine you should be able to get KDE 3 looking a bit like
Gnome 2. But hopefully Gnome 3 might cause a fork and mean that Gnome 2
goes on.....

Organisations seem to think that everyone wants shiny monitors and iPad
like interfaces that are so dumbed down as to be useless to a
professional computer user....:-(

I stand corrected :-)

Great ok I'll sketch out a rough guide and then I can just tackle each
topic in turn and see how we go. I'll post details nearer the time......

Cheers,

Tony.

Yup that would be cool. Now I am using Debian in earnest I would like to
learn more about the command line package management tools (especially
Aptitude).

So I guess, pending natural disasters, hardware failures etc, the
June talks will be roughly 2 1 hr talks (or less) from myself (starting
my short `series' of talks on Perl)  and Andy Cater talking about his
namesake Debian package management/apt/aptitude/dpkg(/synaptic?) etc...
(for those that don't know Andy was responsible for giving Apt its name:-)).

Will we be ok for the 21st June WRT MessageLabs conference room?

    Cheers,

    Tony.
