[Herefordshire] Installing DVD-CDrom

Hello,

I have transferred to my Linux box an Asus DVD-ROM E616 player.  The system
found it and seemed to set it up.  The first time that I re-booted it showed
on the KDE desktop and worked.
Since it does not show on the desktop at all, though if I put a disk in the
led comes on and it tries to work.

Looking at the hardware settings, some sort of default seems to have been
entered.

Looking at the Mandrake hardware compatibility list this particular model is
not show at present.

Any ideas please to get things working.
