That's correct its linux only at the moment (freebsd port is out there too
somewhere).

You don't need linux to be able to use voip, with a sipura (a bit of
hardware) you can connect to voip providers or your own * box remotely over
the net.  For example, you can have a sipura at a homeworker site that
connects remotely to your * server over the internet.
