[HLUG] Thanks for help

Several people helped me last Thursday at the HLUG meeting and at home I
therefore managed to upgrade to the latest Ubuntu. The version I had
downloaded was the preview which was available just before the release
date. It works and I lost nothing from my old system.
I have 3 personal Linux projects which I am happy to struggle with in my
slow way. I'm hoping I will learn a lot as I struggle but I was out of
my depth last week, not knowing I had a data disc instead of a mirror of
the distro I wanted! Someone else had done the download for me and I he
had difficulties which he circumvented: I guess he did a data disc
without realizing it was not ready for installing.
Little things like that can stop us completely and so there's a lot to
be gained in our meetings.
Matt recently had a printing problem with Gimp which sounded just like a
problem which I had in August. Unfortunately I don't keep good notes of
my struggles and could not pass on any hints.
I resolve now to keep notes.
