There is the nxserver which where the underlying code is GPL but the 
extra bits and bobs , 'the ploish' is commercial. This is from the 
company called NoMachine. Not too expensive either compared to competing 
technologies.

There is a totally free version of NX called FreeNX which uses the 
NoMachine GPL code but is totally free. But its not so polished as the 
Nomachine stuff. Nomachine are very good at supporting their product 
too, they were very helpful when I had problems, even when mine was out 
of its support period, they still helped;-)

Easiest way to test it is to try the nxserver on recent Knoppix CD's 
(DVD's).
