[HLUG] Group to promote FOSS

Dear All,

Following recent contacts between HLUG members, the MOST presentation 
and various other inputs I am interested in a quick chat at tonights 
meeting with anyone else interested in setting up a not-for-profit 
organisation to be pro-active in Herefordshire and perhaps the wider 
West Midlands/ Marches region with the objective of promoting FOSS to 
primarily voluntary sector but also local administration/ education etc. 
The modus operandi of the group would be to resaerch current 
uptake/awareness then design and implement systems for targetted users 
according to needs and resources available, taking every opportunity to 
publicise and promote FOSS along the way.

Note that it would be expected that the group would raise funds to 
ensure that expertise is paid for at the going rate; so a level of 
support at proper commercial level should be achievable.

This group would be independant of and have no connection with HLUG 
other than having some people in common, and does not conflict with the 
ability of HLUG members to continue to give voluntary spare time help to 
anyone interested in FOSS.
