The consensus on the ntl.discussion.linux newsgroup is that USB isn't a good 
idea. I did see one message indicating that someone had successfully 
configured it on USB. 

The reason I didn't try USB is that once you have registered the cable modem 
you can no longer use dial up access. If I had been unable to configure the 
USB successfully I would have been forced to fall back to Windoze for my 
internet access.
