On my machines, I always remove the CD/DVD source and just leave the
http source in.

For most packages I install, the download is faster than finding the CD.

There are also very occasional updates that aren't on the security
server - usually when there is a really major bug in a package (like one
which would lose data)

In general - leaving a sarge apt source in is safe.
