We haven't had an Infopoint here in the frozen north of Carlisle yet, 
but I can say that when we ran a thing for a local scout group [1], some 
people were impressed and interested in the Knoppix live CDs that we 
used. I'd be inclined to use live CDs for the demo machines, since you 
can leave people to play with little chance of damage, and you have an 
extra chance to impress them. Plus, the Ubuntu LiveCD includes useful 
open source Windows software, with a nice installer.
