I did recently write this article about a workaround though:

Windows 10 LTSC is supported until 2027. Win10 LTSC IoT until 2032.

I have the IoT version on a Thinkpad X220 here and it works a treat.

The machine has a firmware licence for Win7 Pro. I activated LTSC IoT 
using the command here:

This could save any small businesses who can't afford to replace all 
their kit!
