Hello everybody,
I have been fighting with DVD playback for the last couple of weeks in MPlayer
(from Packman). I had an YOU update end then MPlayer seemed to start
misbehaving. I have uninstalled re-downloaded, recompiled, installed,
un-installed, updated etc. etc. the MPlayer software. Over the last couple of
days, however, I have noticed that I sometimes need to insert and eject and
reinsert Data CDs a couple of times before the system notices and reads it.
When I put a DVD into the drive and try to play it with MPlayer I have noticed
that I get to following at the end of the listing produced by dmesg:
hdc: packet command error: error=0x34
ATAPI device hdc:
Error: Medium error -- (Sense key=0x03)
(reserved error code) -- (asc=0x57, ascq=0x00)
The failed "Send DVD Structure" packet command was:
"ad 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 00 08 00 00 00 00 00 00 "

Any thoughts or questions?
