Yer, look at the london telephone exchanges, a relic of the 40's iron
rods and all that. 

Your contention will be at least 50:1 and you're line attenuation will
probably be between 30 - 60dB IF you can get a solid connection. 

Just go for blueyonder broadband. Much better value IMHO!
