[Klug-general] sane under Mandriva LE 2006

Good morning all,

I've upgraded my Mandrake 10.2 to Mandriva LE 2006 Powerpack. It was an 
upgrade, not a new install. In the past when I've upgraded everything 
worked fine afterwards.

However, this upgrade has left me minus my scanner. It is an Epson 
GT-5000 on a scsi PCI card. The card is an Adaptec AHA-7850 and Linux 
tells me that it has loaded module aic7xxx to handle it, which seems 
suitable.

However, I am not sure that I have sane properly installed. From a root 
(or user) terminal if I type 'sane' or 'sane find-scanner' I am informed 
'sane: command not found'.

I don't claim any great Linux knowledge but I do prefer to use it 
because it is SO stable and usable.

If anyone could advise a simple chap how I might proceed to recover my 
scanner I would be most grateful.
