[Klug-general] wardriving networks cards

Hi all
I'm thinking of buying pcmicia card and ariel for a spot of wardriving/ pen
testing with my laptop which is running ubuntu.
I've been looking at orinoco cards which are expensive and possibly need a
kernel patch - all the info i've found is very old though so i'm not sure if
this is still the case.
The pther option seems to be aprism2 chipsetted card which i'm struggling to
source from the uk.
Does anyone have any have ideas/ experience with this?
