Its very much a case of Your Millage May Vary. Decent kit should give
you full gigE, if not, then pretty damn close. This said, this is not
going to be cheap. It also depends alot on the packet size you are
transmitting, etc...
That said, the price of decent gige kit is dropping. HP have brought out
a "mostly managed" gige switch (1800 series) whih is not only
affordable, but I am hearing reports that they are able to offer damn
good performance.
Thing is, ultimately if its that important, you're gonna buy cisco
anyway :p
