You're right about evolution.
There's evidence that some of the last species of dinosaurs understood
binary arithmetic. Scientists have discovered long parallel grooves
carefully cut in the side of a hill and at the bottom, a mass of
perfectly round stones. They think it was used something like an abacus
but they could use posts to stop the stones and divert them into other
grooves to make logic gates. No ones figured all the details or why they
bothered.
