Come to think of it, I've only used the dvd drive on my macbook for
installing leopard and fedora, and hacking on microsoft office using
wine and burning off a couple of rescue CDs when various machines have
gone to the dogs. All of this can be done with a USB stick, so it goes
to show optical drives are generally as important as they once were...
Still I think its an important feature for consumers to have, hacks like
me just do whatever's fastest rather than easiest so I don't think my
habits count.
