[Klug-general] Baffled by Kubuntu

There's also kdesu for X apps - "kdesu kate" will load the Kate editor 
with root privileges. I've been told that one shouldn't use regular 
"sudo" for X applications but I'm not entirely sure of the reasoning 
(seemed to work fine when I tried it).
