What i find interesting is that the eepc was much a specialist/ experimental
machine. I pretty sure that when Asus were designing the machine they knew
that they were taking a punt at the market and one which has worked so well
that now every ones seems to want a piece of the low cost sub notebook
market.

Vista was very obviously designed for the kind of machines that were around
a year or two ago where everything was about more power, more cores, more
gpu power etc and now Microsoft find themselves with bloated OS and
consumers wanting cheap machines with low power consumption because of the
credit crunch and raising energy costs.

I wonder how fast MS will bring Windows 7 to market (my guess is very
quickly), if it will be as modular as they say and and if by that time Linux
will already have the low end sub notebook market well and truly sown up.
