[Klug-general] one server or to have dedicated servers for each task?

Wow, zimbra's really impressive.
However, that's not good enough for the file hosting. My users really
need this as most of the job we do is on spreadsheets and word-processed
documents.
I guess I could use a server for email/webhosting and another as
fileserver.
Thank you all for your advice.
Guillaume

Apologies if you have already come across this, but you might want to
look at http://www.zimbra.com/products/ The Zimbra Collaboration Suite
might offer a one stop shop for what you need.

You might want to look at what the samba shares actually contain
and then consider if they actually need to be samba shares.
For example if they only actually contain a small set of working
documents then they might be served up via an intranet type
site. Consider Knowledge tree, Drupal and the novell sharepoint
alternative I can't remember the name. The other advantage of
this route is that the website, email via webmail and document
management all become one and the same which is nice form an end
user point of view.
