To be honest I think the Severed Fifth thing is a bit of a dud given the
likes of Jamendo.com and in particular Brad sucks and Alison Crowe  form
said site (p.m to Mike don't bother downloading Brad Sucks but i think you
might like some of the Alison Crowe stuff).
You also have to bear in mind that the Severed project is supposed to prove
that any one can generate a revenue from creative commons music - whilst
silently ignoring the fact that Jono is a 'Rock Star' programmer with lots
of people behind him.

Also there are people such as Becky Owen; http://www.beccyowen.com/ who are
doing pretty well with their own label and their own record company
