I will now make the Stupid Dame Notice.

Google Maps are NOT open source they are close, with quite tight
restrictions over what you can and can't do. There maps are also good
for some things and not that good at other things.

You probably need to look at openstreetmap.org for true Open Source Maps.

Google may be free, but its not open. OSM is both, and its winning
awards all the time currently. Plus they have hundreds of Bikers,
Walkers etc etc mapping the world if your interested in getting
involved.

OSM even have a specialist map designed just for Bikers.
