Hi Philippe,

Ah the joys of the British Telecom marketing effect. The current vogue for broadband suppliers to tell us that they have the best wireless broadband leads to much confusion, oh the times I have had to explain the difference to clients. Broadband received through a BT phone line or cable service (i.e. Virgin Media) is just broadband and has nothing to do with wireless, that is down to networking. You can have one without the other. There is only one provider that I know of in Kent who provide 'wireless broadband' and that is www.orbital.net, with their service not requiring either phone line or cable connection it is all done complete via wireless through one of their aerials on the side of your house.

I even had BT offer a customer wireless broadband with a free router for an extra £££ per month. Luckily for a change the customer actually for a change asked me if he should get it, I pointed out that firstly he already had wireless networking and secondly BT had already sent him a new free modem! Why pay more money?

Regards,

Gavin Coles
