[Klug-general] Mounting Android SD card on Ubuntu via USB cable?

I have a HTC Hero. I connect it via USB, choose 'mount as hard drive'
or similar on the phone when prompted and voilà - the drive appears in
Ubuntu automatically.

So I would suggest that something is quite wrong somewhere if that doesn't work?
