you have to have an 'rndc-key' entry in 'named.conf'. You generate a key using the program'rndc-confgen > /etc/namedb/rndc.conf' then follow the instructions in that file. Once you have updated 'named.conf' with this information, restart the nameserver with 'rndc reload'.Hope this helps.

Hi all,
For some time now I have been trying to set up lan server. I recently
came across this and followed it using Ubuntu 8.10. When I tried to
restart bind9
I got "rndc connect failed: 127.0.0.1#953:connection refused"
                                                              [fail]

"Starting domain name service... bind9" [fail]
I know  address 127.0.0.1 is loop back address but what is #953 ?
 Anybody help please?
