[Klug-general] Command line based Interactive Chat Server

I'm looking for a very very simple script I can upload to my AWS EC2 host
and talk to my friend in New Zealand.
We think it would be cool to telnet in and just chat from the command line.
Maybe the server has a feature where the server emails to alert the admin
when someone wants to chat.
No one please say, just use skype of gui things. We just want a simple bash
script.
