To be elitist you have to have a way to identify members of an elite,
and an attitude that members of the elite count more than others in some
way. I'm not sure I see how this can apply to GNU. (Which is I seem to
recall, very specifically Not Unix; for that matter Not Linux either.)
I can see how people might consider users of the bash command line to be
an 'elite' in that they have specialist knowledge that others (mostly by
choice as there is no other obstacle to gaining that knowledge) might
feel excluded in some way. However, to be an elite we, as a group would
have to pay more attention to those people than to others. In fact we
mostly ignore those people :) Oh! I see you are ignoring me.
