[Klug-general] Mailreaders, Calendars and so-called Smartphones

Another +1 for Google. My wife and I both have our Android phones
synced with our Google contacts and calendars. What I find really
cool is the Google Python API. I use this to synchronize our Google
contacts to a local MySQL database. (This gives me the benefit of the
cloud, plus the benefit of a local backup).

My FreeSWITCH phone system then uses this database for the directory
on our home SIP phone (which doesn't support Google contacts
directly). The FreeSWITCH phone system also pushes call notifications
to my MythTV system, and displays the caller name, based on a lookup
of the local database.

I've attached my contact import script, it may not be exactly suitable
for anyone else, but could be a good start for anyone wanting to do a
similar thing.

Regards,
Dan Ellis
