I'm still going and taking along my robot which sort of works. I'm considering a redesign but not sure when I will get chance to work on that.

At the moment trying to redesign its control by removing all of
decision making away from the Ardunio and instead use a Palm device
which has more memory and a faster processor. The Ardunio will just
be motor control and sensor reporting. Should be easy to do in
practice as both devices have serial IO. The problem I have to get
around is that the prc-gcc compiler project has not been active
since 2003 so getting an old gcc compiler source and patched for prc
is going to get messy. Not impossible. I would prefer native C on
the Palm just for the speed. As a temp solution just to prove the
comms idea works I am looking for a quicker solution in a JVM on the
Palm. OK its going to slow things right down, but if its still
faster than before (my multitasking code on the Ardunio is not able
to slice quick enough) then its still worth while.

Canterbury. Most interesting, but the point of the post
being open source like, is next meeting will be on the
subject of Arduino. I plan to take my little robot along.
