Although this isn't exactly what you're looking for, it might be useful:

PS3 Media Server uses Java and runs on Windows/Mac/Linux. It transcodes and
acts as a UPnP server. It was originally designed to stream video and audio
to PS3's but works with any UPnP compatible device. I've used it with my
PS3 in the past and it's not bad.
