[Klug-general] bt web address help irritation

When I do web development on my home desktop running httpd, I usually
create a host name to use for the dev site by adding, ie.
somedevdomain-com (note hyphen) to /etc/hosts, but irritatingly, when
I type that into firefox, firefox initially redirects it to
webaddresshelp.bt.com. Typing it again (sometimes more than once) and
I get my dev site.

Is there anyway I can get my dev/home-desktop to look at it's own
hosts file before anything else?
