[Klug-general] buying a laptop without windows

...or a second hand one and dual-boot/overwrite whatever is there. I've had good service and products (Lenovo, Dell, HP) from http://www.tier1online.com/ who seem to specialise in ex-business laptops (there are other suppliers as well). Maybe even install an SSD if wary of a second hand hard-disk.

I've been running a second-hand Lenovo IBM ThinkPad X41 since 2010 and that has been absolutely fine for general stuff (struggles bravely on video conversion). I've recently changed the desktop from Unity to LXDE as it was struggling on Ubuntu 14.04 (fine on 12.04).
