[Klug-general] IM Chat Server for Office

Unfortunately most people have been answering a different question, 
which is "which chat service do you use for your office".   The actual 
question was around running a server /in/ the office, which is a 
different question.

I know it's old fashioned (but then I am) but I'd have thought the 
obvious choice was a good old IRC server.  It only looks clunky if the 
users use a terminal application to access it.  There is probably a good 
chat client that makes it more or less seamless.  I use Pidgin still - 
which doesn't quite cover up all the warts but it's not bad.
