[Klug-general] development OS survey

Hi James

thanks for the insight for a bare-bones operating system  using assembly. I might go down that route if I have the time but might just use a current OS and then totally change everything. to meet the specs I have made from the survey,

Sorry - I speed read the original e-mail - I guess you don't want to start entirely from scratch ideally!

Debian/Ubuntu may well be your best starting base if you want to concentrate on usability and a specific application set and not the underlying mechanics of the OS.

Hi everyone I am a student at East Kent College doing level 4 HNC in computing and for my computer systems unit I have decided to make my own OS for people who code and develop. I have made a survey which should help me make the OS for the needs of the people who would use it.

Hi I'm Tom

It's been years since I did any real development so I can't really help.
Currently I use various flavours of Linux, mostly Slackware.
Good luck with a brand new OS but I fear you will need the luck.
The last guy who tried this took ten years to even make a dent.
