[Lancaster] debian help

Hello everyone

I have been asked to help with the setup of a Debian box for an arts grou=
p in=20
Nottingham. I've never looked at Debian before so might need a bit of hel=
p=20
from one of you if you don't mind.

I need to set some iptable rules, I tried listing with iptables -L but ge=
t a=20
failure on a modprobe

as follows

ch=20
file or directory) iptables v1.2.6a: can't initialize iptables table=20
'filter': Permission denied (you must be root) Perhasp iptables or your=20
kernel needs to be upgraded

lsmod lists

iptable_mangle
iptable_nat
iptable_filter
ip_tables

can anyone help me tackle this?
