Max,

Thanks for your suggestions re firewalls at the LUG meeting last evening.

I've removed the SuSE firewall and installed 'guarddog' (from 
http://www.simonzone.com/software/guarddog). Apart from a tarball, there 
are packages specifically for the major distros. I used the rpm for SuSE 
v9.1.

It's a cinch to set up and is very 'friendly', especially given the 
online manual (which I've also downloaded).
