[Lancaster] Linux in (local) Education?

WRT my previous posting on this topic:

Today I had a chance meeting with a guy who teaches IT at a school near 
Carlisle. He is not aware of any contractual problem with running Linux 
alongside an existing school MS Windows system, so I was wrong on that one.

I agree that it would be a good move to get Open Office and Firefox 
accepted on MS systems.

Would it be a good idea to push the benefits of running remote X? This 
should reduce the maintenance work required of the sys admin bods and 
also allow older PCs to be used.
