[Lancaster] Help -- Video importing/processing software.

I have recently obtained a Philips SPC 900NC webcam which I intend using 
for astro photography. I've downloaded and installed Linux drivers for 
this camera (*/ http://www.saillard.org/linux/pwc/) /*and under 
Kdetv/Video I can select 'Video4Linux: Philips SPC 900NC Webcam' and 
then view video coming in from the webcam. This does not appear to give 
me the opportunity to save the video as a file. I can only grab snapshots.

Clearly the webcam and drivers are working OK.

Are there any easy to use video importing/processing apps which run 
under Linux which would allow me to save the video to file? Preferably 
as AVI.
