Hello Ken,
Speaking as a Debian user ;^), I'd say if you want to stick with SuSE,
but not want to financially support Novell, then be happy with
OpenSUSE. The developers behind it are a great bunch of guys, and
although it is financially (and in other ways) linked to Novell, it is
still a Free Software distro - and one with a great community :-)
btw KUbuntu will be great when KDE4.0 and beyond arrive - KOffice plus
Konqueror plus KDE has a far smaller memory footprint than OOo plus
Firefox plus GNOME, and future KDE releases will be a lot less messy
than earlier desktops ;-)
