[Lancaster] A useful replacement for /bin/dir under Debian and Mandriva

I'm getting to like Debian 5, but am missing a useful command that is provided
under SUSE.

Under Debian and Mandriva the commands 'ls' and 'dir' do exactly the same
thing. In fact in the /bin directory, these two appear to be copies of the
same file, but with different names.

Under SUSE, 'dir' provides a detailed listing of files with useful colors
applied, similar to 'ls -l --color'.

I've therefore written a very simple replacement for 'dir' which calls 'ls'
with the additional parameters, plus any other parameters/instructions that
might be needed. The 'C' source code is attached.
