Hey,
I see that the faq includes setting up google mail in thunderbird but it only covers pop email. In my opinion pop is quite archaic and imap should always be the choice to go for. In addition to server-side folder creation it is also state-aware, which means if you read your mail from, say, you mobile phone, this state is carried through to any other client (messages marked as read/unread etc). Might be good to link a tutorial that covers imap as well.
There is a bunch of stuff out there, so I just grabbed this link to illustrate :): http://lifehacker.com/314574/turn-thunderbird-into-the-ultimate-gmail-imap-client
Cheers,
Joost
p.s. Previously sent the mail using my other account. I use them interchangeably so I did not realise I was sending it using the one that was not registered with the mailinglist. Sorry Wayne!.
