Indeed, it is a losing battle - and that is what he shares with
anarchists, extra-parliamentary socialists, environmentalists and even
liberal human rights activists struggling to make a better and just
world; but that it is a losing battle does not mean that the battle
should be abandoned, does it?

Although it might be nice to be on the side that's winning, the losers'
side look like the place to be, at least to me.

That said, he is not exactly an easy person to discuss with!

emails exchanged with Mr. Stallman, in case that sort of thing interests
anyone..)
