How far you can get with this will depend on the make and model of your 
phone. About the last 3 phones I have had, all Symbian based, have had 
Quickoffice:

Never used it. It claims to allow you to view edit and create Microsoft 
Office documents. Looks like they support quite a few phones, though 
useless to me since I save in OpenDocument Format.
