Silly idea but... have you played with the idea of creating a custom
LLUG distro and distributing it on the LLUG site as a promo?
Could also use it as a distro to run lectures on at events...

That is one thing that I am hoping to bring to the first meeting.
My current CD has Linux 2.6; but am sure that I have the previous
release using Linux 2.4.
If nothing else, they make good recovery CDs
And they do contain all the tools, source and patches; so that
you can build onto an empty machine. So will probably try to
burn a good handful of CDs to hand out.
