My web host uses horde, it's a _really_ nice setup. I'm looking at
implementing this at work if Netlinc don't pull their finger out.

Have you had a look at Karoshi? http://karoshi.org.uk. It's currently
very GUI-based / idiot-proofed, but aimed at providing an Linux-based
LAN for schools.
