*A reminder that we have the joint meeting on Thursday evening (see below).*

Before I prepare anything (and I am not an expert on issues around installs
etc), I need to know who else is going to be there and what they can
contribute.

So far, looking back through emails, I think only Iain Baker has said he
will be there - a couple of other people have other commitments (like being
overseas) that mean they cannot be there.

According to the website there are another 20 or so people around (maybe
more - my flag seems to have fallen off the map).
If anyone knows of good tutorial material on the web that we can
'customise', please let me know asap.

BTW - if anyone needs transport, I am driving from Nocton and can pick up
people between Nocton and Lincoln, and others a few miles further off route.

Cheers, Peter Murray

*An Introduction to Installing/using GNU/Linux for beginners*

Thursday 11 October 2007 (gather from 18:30 for 19:00 start)
*Speakers:* Lincolnshire Linux User Group members

This is a joint meeting with the Lincolnshire Linux User Group (
www.lincs.lug.org.uk) and with BCS Open Source Specialist Group (
ossg.bcs.org).

The format will be more that of a workshop/tutorial, and will be designed to
encourage 'hands-on' experience of using several GNU/Linux distros (in
particular Ubuntu, Debian and Knoppix). It will also allow for exchange of
information and ideas, and try to answer questions and queries about
GNU/Linux, especially for those who have little or no experience. If you
have a laptop with a Linux installation, please feel free to bring it along
to help demonstrate, or raise questions (although we cannot guarantee to
answer all questions).

*Organiser:* Peter Murray

*Venue:* EMMTEC Building at the University of
Lincoln<http://www.lincoln.ac.uk/>,
Brayford Pool, Lincoln LN6 7TS
