Do you have an interest in Unix systems administration and gaining an
in-depth understanding of GNU/Linux systems administration? Do you have
Perl programming experience and an understanding of computer security
issues? If so, please get in touch with us.

We currently have a vacancy for a Unix Systems Programmer to work in our
Systems Development and Support Team, and are looking for an
enthusiastic and highly IT-literate person to fill this post. The work
involves systems architecture, software development and user support.
You should have a degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline and
experience of working in a technically-complex environment. A knowledge
of C or Java would be an advantage. You will often be expected to work
on your own initiative, and will need good organizational and
communication skills for dealing with staff at all levels in the
University. You will be expected to develop your skills in the many
aspects of computing that the job will entail, so your ability to learn
and respond rapidly will be considered as important as experience.

The post is within the Infrastructure Group of the Computing Services
which is responsible for providing the IT and network infrastructure
underpinning the core computing activities of the University. We offer
flexible working and the University has good childcare provision.

Interviews will be held during week commencing 13th February 2006
