Title: Developer
Location: Docklands, London
Contract: Permanent
Initially this position requires a skilled developer with commercial
experience working on ordering and provisioning systems. You will be
enhancing and re-factoring an existing Internet based system written in
PERL, using XML RPC for the provisioning. Over time the role will expand
to encompass working on low level back-end services, along with some
front end integration for Internet based systems.
You must be able to work on your own initiative, under pressure and meet
deadlines. We are looking for an individual that is both flexible and
committed.
Responsible To: Business Development Manager/Project Manager
Main Responsibilities
1. Implement features and enhancements as described by the project
requirements
2. Provide a weekly report to your manager including a WBS
3. Producing maintainable code (i.e. coding standards)
4. Follow revision control system (i.e. Subversion)
5. Testing your applications (i.e. unit/functional tests)
6. Integrate functional changes into a web based front end
7. Managing application database schemas
8. Liaising with third party providers
Qualifications
1. Competent user of Linux systems
2. Commercial PERL, XML, MySQL experience
3. Knowledge of Apache, HTML, CSS
4. Strong communication skills
5. Able to work in a team, but also on own initiative
6. Flexible, committed and punctual
7. Able to operate under pressure and meet deadlines
Other
Experience with any of the following would be an advantage
1. Ruby on Rails
2. PostgreSQL
3. Subversion
4. PHP
5. Agile working methodologies
