Good afternoon Gluugers,
My $work as usual is on the hunt for more people for work for us in
the funny world of film post production and VFX.
We're after 2 x Junior systems support, the job entails supporting
linux boxes, getting your hands dirty with high end 3d and our modestly
sized rendering farm.
Linux experience (RedHat) is a plus but not essential, same with some
programming skills.

Title: Junior Systems Support
MPC is one of the world's leading post production facilities creating
high-end digital visual effects for the advertising, music, television
and feature film industries. The company works with, and continually
invests in, new technologies and a key part of the organization is the
Systems team which develops and maintains the infrastructure on which
all the visual effects are created.
There is currently a vacancy in the Systems team for the entry-level
position of Junior Systems Support. The role offers the successful
candidate unlimited potential to advance technical skills, offers
experience with state-of-the-art technology and opportunity to learn
from specialist digital media colleagues.
Key Accountabilities
• Primary responsibility is to provide basic technical support
to the artists and assist other members of the Systems team
with machine moves and installations.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential Experience
• You should have a keen interest in computer hardware and
operating systems
• Candidates should give examples of the level of experience
with different operating systems and PC hardware components
• A degree is not required but the ability to learn quickly
and think on your feet is essential.
• Excellent communication and team working skills.
• Accuracy and attention to detail.
• Capacity to manage a busy workload with high productivity.
Desired
• Previous administration experience on Linux/BSD/Mac OS X
based computers and home networking.
• Enthusiasm and commitment to learn about and get involved
in departmental activities.
