Hi all,

We currently have an urgent requirement for a Linux guru at Apoapsis
(http://www.apoapsis.com/).

The role comprises:

1. Systems administration

Day to day maintenance of the company's servers, workstations, and network.
Servers are mostly Debian, workstations are Ubuntu and Windows. As a small
company, the systems administration work is very light.

Technologies in use: MySQL, Apache, Subversion, Samba, Postfix, VMware,
OpenLDAP, Cisco, VoIP

2. Appliance development

This is the primary focus of the role and involves the continued development
and maintenance of our appliance products, which are based on an open-source
software stack plus Java, using Perl and Bash as glue code. Ideally you will
be familiar with creating Debian packages, or willing to pick this up.

Any Java development experience you have would be a huge bonus.

Technologies in use: Debian, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Apache, Tomcat, Java, Perl,
Bash

3. Support and on-site work

Installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting at customers' offices and
datacentres, mostly in London, although some further travelling may be
required very occasionally. You must be comfortable with working in a
datacentre.

Customers occasionally require support for both the application and the
appliance. This may be via email, over the phone, or in person.

We are looking for a good all-rounder who is equally comfortable administering
a Linux box, configuring a router, writing a Perl script, querying a database,
building a server, installing a server in a datacentre, diagnosing and
repairing faults, etc etc.

This is a great opportunity for a FOSS enthusiast to work in a small and
friendly company while also gaining experience working with large
multinationals and "enterprise" networking.

Salary is negociable. Please reply with your CV or any questions, or call me
on 020 3051 7976.

Cheers,

Doug
